Baby Dinner Ideas for Baby-Led Weaning
Dinner can mirror a softened version of the family meal: a meat or lentil, a cooked vegetable, and a carbohydrate. Offer dinner early enough that your baby is not too tired to try.
Keep it early and small
A 6-month-old may take dinner at 5 p.m. A large late meal does not make them sleep through the night and can lead to refusal.
Examples
- Soft potato, shredded chicken, cooked green vegetable
- Salmon, rice, steamed zucchini or broccoli
- Beans mashed with tomato, toast strip
Frequently asked questions
Should I offer dessert fruit after dinner?
Fruit can sit on the tray with the meal. There is no need for a separate sweet course.
