How to cut Oats, 6–8 months
Prepare oatmeal with water, breast milk, formula, or cow's milk. Cook longer for a thick consistency that holds on a spoon, or roll into balls. Offer pre-loaded spoons or oatmeal balls for self-feeding. Avoid honey before 12 months due to the risk of botulism.
How to cut Oats, 9–11 months
Serve oatmeal as dense balls for holding or thick porridge for scooping. Oat flakes or flour can also be added to pancakes, grain balls, or muffins.
How to cut Oats, 12+ months
Serve oatmeal for spoon practice, allowing your baby to use their hands. Also offer oat-based baked goods (like bread, muffins) or soft oat balls for easy self-feeding.
How to cut Turkey, 6–8 months
Cut into thick strips (finger-sized). Cook until tender, but do not overdry.
How to cut Turkey, 8–10 months
Cut into smaller pieces. Keep moist and soft.
How to cut Turkey, 12+ months
Cut or chop into small pieces.
How to cut Zucchini, 6–8 months
Cut into long strips (5-7 cm) with the skin on, so it's easy for your baby to hold. Cook until very soft. You can peel it if you wish.
How to cut Zucchini, 8–10 months
Cut into small pieces. Still soft.
How to cut Zucchini, 12+ months
You can cut it into small cubes or leave it in larger pieces. Babies can chew different textures.
How to cut Banana, 6–8 months
Offer a peeled banana as a whole half or cut lengthwise into thirds (sticks) for easy grasping. Alternatively, mash it and pre-load onto a spoon for self-feeding practice. Bananas are soft and sticky and can cause a gag reflex. If sticking to the roof of the mouth causes a strong gag reflex, try serving it in sticks.
